Sacred Rituals & Traditions

Cold Start Sunday

Every Sunday, faithful gearheads perform the sacred ritual of Cold Start Sunday. They gather at dawn to awaken their steeds, reverently turning the ignition key and listening to the blessed roar that signifies life and power. It is a moment of prayer and respect for the engine’s soul.

Wrenching Wednesday

Midweek is reserved for the holy act of maintenance and modification. On Wrenching Wednesday, believers gather in their garages or workshops to cleanse their machines with oil changes, tighten bolts, and install blessed upgrades. This is a time for meditation, patience, and connection to the mechanical divine.

Fuel Offerings

Before any major drive or race, disciples offer their engines the purest fuel—91 octane or higher—as a symbol of devotion. The act of filling the tank is ceremonial, often accompanied by a whispered prayer to Octanok the Loud and the sacred promise to never run lean or dirty.

Burnout Baptism

New converts to the Church of Combustion must undergo the Burnout Baptism: leaving their mark with a trail of rubber and smoke on the sacred asphalt. This rite symbolizes rebirth into the brotherhood of horsepower and the shedding of electric heresy.

Engine Oil Anointing

Before important races, builds, or journeys, believers anoint themselves and their vehicles with a drop of premium engine oil. This sacred act is meant to bring protection, smooth operation, and a connection to the divine lubrication that keeps the engine’s heart beating.

Rituals for the Young and the Non-Driving Faithful

For those who are not yet old enough to drive or cannot operate a vehicle, the Church of Combustion offers alternative rituals to welcome all into the fold:

All faithful, regardless of age, are welcome in the Church of Combustion, united by passion and respect for the eternal roar.
